Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) representatives presented a championship trophy to Dušan Borković, the winner of 2012 FIA European Hill Climb Championship, at a gala event in Olomouc (The Czech Republic).  On this occasion, Serbia officially became the racing champion of Europe for the first time.

The fastest Serb, a member of the NISOTEC Racing Team, had eight wins in the season, and won the championship in Category I with 55 points ahead of the runner-up, the Austrian driver Schweiger. The Italian driver, Simone Faggioli, was the fastest in Category II.

“I am very happy and proud that Serbia became the European racing champion. When I started competing, 19 years ago, I set a goal to become the European champion one day. With immense support from the Serbian government, the city of Pančevo and my sponsor NIS, we managed to reach the "top" of Europe.  I would like to thank everyone who believed in me, and to all my fans. Serbia is the best in racing, too.” – These were the first impressions of the European racing champion, Dušan Borković, when he received his championship trophy.

At the gala event, the FIA representatives congratulated the Serbian driving ace and expressed their hope that the twenty-seven-year-old driver from Pančevo would continue winning at international competitions in years to come.

"We haven't decided yet in which competition I will drive the following season. Together with my team and sponsors I will make this decision in the coming days. Definitely, my new goal is that Serbia has the world's best racing driver. In the next seasons I will do my best to achieve this goal, I will compete in one of the world's championships. "Once again, thank you for all the support - WE'RE DRIVING FORWARD – TO THE TOP OF THE WORLD" – said Borković in The Czech Republic.

Dušan Borković will bring the championship trophy to Serbia on Monday, November 5th.
